A tribute to my sliver horse

Velour and I at the age of 13

It feels like I am a long way away from my silver horse on my golden pony. He has been gone two whole years now. I did not think I would be able to even live without him but I guess I have been managing. It still hurts, and I still miss him. A ton.

I have been scanning a few pictures and thought I would share them with you. They are of my first horse that I ever loved; Velour. I rode him from the age of 10 and on and actually got to realize my dream and own him at the age of 18. He had a 5 year retirement with me before he died at the age of 23. Here are some photos of him and our time together when he came home to live with me.

  2. Beautiful oldster.

I'm just now realizing that this is 2010. It means this June will be 3 years since Flair died. June 10th will probably be a special entry indeed.

  3. What a cute face and kind eye. He was one lucky boy to be with you and be loved all the way to the end.
We both lost our big grey ponies -- maybe they're galloping around up there together.

  6. Thanks for stopping by! Yep, those first horses... I got my first horse 25 years ago. She will be 26 this year. She is going to live forever, because I don't think I can live without her.

  7. He was beautiful and you two look like you made quite a pair.

My heart still aches for my "first love" and she has been gone almost 10 years. I don't think I'll ever quite be over her.

  8. Thanks guys! He was a special boy to me as all of your first loves were special to you! Horse people share that gift to be love another animal species this deeply even when it comes with the cost of immense grief when they leave.
