Not so Great News

The showplace just posted my test times..... My first test is at 8:07!
I am the second ride in the big scary indoor arena. Also I saw my old riding instructor's students all over the roster. This means she will be there! This means I will be even more nervous! This is not good!

  1. Just remember to breathe and only concentrate on you and your horse - let the others take care of themselves - sometimes it's good to go early in the order so then you can relax. Do some positive visualizations - imagine yourself doing your ride and imagine every detail, with everything going well. And do the visualization over again and again - they when you're riding you'll have the plan to follow. Whatever happens, don't worry about it and just return to the plan. Good luck!

  2. I am sure you will be fabulous. The beauty of dressage is that you have the arena to yourself, and you can focus on your goals rather than pitting yourself against other riders. Keep things relaxed. I love to go to a show with one small goal, like maintaining balance in corners or shooting for a square halt. Regardless of the result and your score, celebrate those little victories.

    Good luck!

  3. Thanks guys! Great advise. I think my goal is for Bodhi to have some relaxed and attentive moments. They always say ride the horse you have and mine is baby green! It is only our first show!
